UWHARRIE POINT, N.C. - Senior Erin Boyle carded a 79 on in the opening round of the Lady Falcon Invitational and due to a tee marker mix-up on Tuesday, the second round was nullified and Boyle's tied for ninth after the first round stands.

A number of the players were played from the wrong tee markers on one of the holes on Tuesday that had been miss-marked with a sign. Since nearly half of the field played from the wrong tees, the tournament committee decided to nullify the entire second round and make the first round standings official.

The 79 was a career-low for Boyle and the tied for ninth finish was the best of her career. Fellow senior Laura Ormson also played as an individual and carded a round of 84 on Monday to tie for 36th.

The Lady Falcon Invitational was hosted by Pfeiffer University at The Old North State Club in Uwharrie Point, N.C.

The women's golf team will return to action at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 9-11. The Deacons won the tournament by 16-shots last season.
