Lubbock, Texas - The Wake Forest women's golf team enters Saturday's third and final round of the NCAA Central Regional fourteen strokes behind the leaders. The Deacons stood as high as seventh place during round two, but finished in thirteenth with a second round 315. Sophomore Mandy Goins led the team with a five-over 77 on Friday. Combined with her 76 from round one, the Frankfort, Ky., native stands in a 35th-place tie overall. Despite carding an 80 in round two, senior teammate Christine Hallstrom is tied with Goins after two days of competition. Laura Crawford and Maggie Simons each brought in second round scores of 77, putting them in ties for 49th and 57th place, respectively. Texas' Lisa Ferrero is the only member of the field under par for the tournament (-1). Baylor, Texas A&M, Missouri and Auburn share the lead at 27-over, while Purdue (+28) and Arizona State (+29) follow closely behind. Texas Tech, Michigan and Wake Forest tee off Saturday morning at 11:50 a.m. Live scoring will be available at www.Golfstat.com and full results will be at www.WakeForestSports.com following the completion of the final round. The top eight teams and the top two individuals from each of the three regions advance to the NCAA Championship in Sunriver Ore., May 17-20.
