Woman's Golf in Fourth Place at the Bryan National Colligiate

GREENSBORO, NC--Junior Filippa Hansson of Duke fired a 72 in the first round of the Bryan National Colligiate Woman's Golf Tournament to finish the day in a first place tie and help Duke take the team lead at the Bryan Park Champions Course on Friday.
Duke finished the day with a team score of 294, four strokes in front of second place Georgia. Tennessee is the third with 302, while Wake Forest is fourth with 309 in the 15-team field.
Hansson is tied with New Mexico State's Rachel Duncan for the individual lead. Both players posted 35s on the front nine but came in with 37s to finish the day at the even par on the par 72 course that covers 6,074 yards.
Four players are one stroke back of the first day's leaders. Tennessee feshman Anna Umomura, one of the players among that group, stuggled on the front side finishing with a 40. However, she had no bogeys on the back nine and birdied holes 12, 13,and 14. to get back within one stroke of the leaders.
Georgia's Julia Boros adn Reilly Ranken both shot 38s and 35s on the back side to finish the day at one par over. The final player that is tied for third is Duke's Jenny Chausiriporn who was even after the front nine. She birdied two out of the first four holes on the back nine but had three bogeys on the last five holes coming in.
Tournament co host Wake Forest was led by Kristen Wagner, who finished with a 74 and is tied for seventh. The Deacon's Marta Prieto is also among the top twenty individuals, shooting a 76 on the first day.
The other host team, UNC Geensboro, is in 15th place with a score of 326. The Spartans were led by Lotta Jonson who shot a 77 and is tied for 24th.
The second round play will begin on Saturday at 8:30am. The final round will be Sunday and will feature a shotgun start that will also begin at 8:30am.
