Women's Golf Team Finishes Eighth at Lady Gamecock Classic

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Senior Alexandra Armas fired a 72 on Sunday to help Wake Forest finish eighth in the Lady Gamecock Classic with a final team score of 947 in Columbia, SC.

Duke's Jenny Chuasiriporn won the individual title by 11 strokes finishing the tournament at even par. She led the Blue Devils to the team title as well as Duke posted a three day team total of 917. Chuasiriporn and her teammates will be among the 15-team field for the upcoming Bryan National Collegiate hosted by Wake Forest, March 27-29.

Armas bounced back after posting rounds of 81 and 80 during the tournament's first two days. She finished the three day event in a tie for 15th place with a score of 233. Sophomore Kerri Murphy was Wake's next best finisher as she had rounds of 78, 80, and 79 to place 24th.

Deacon junior Kristen Wagner shot a 77 on Sunday to help her move into a tie for 30th place with a three day total of 241. Sophomore Kelly Kirwin finished in a tie for 45th place with a score of 244 while freshman Marta Prieto finished 52nd with a score of 246.
