Winston-Salem, N.C. - Tamar Meijer has been dubbed the WomensFieldHockey.com Rookie of the Week, announced the organization on Monday. Meijer had two goals in both of the Wake Forest wins over the weekend as the Demon Deacons advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the fifth consecutive season.

Meijer had two goals, including the game winner against Harvard in the first round, helping the Deacons to a 7-1 routing of the Crimson.

She scored a pair of goals, again including the game winner, against Northeastern, becoming the first person in 2004 to score more than one goal in a game against the Huskies. The Deacons scored four goals against Northeastern, the most by any team all season.

Meijer is the all-time leading freshman scorer in Deacon history. She has 21 goals and three assists for 45 points this season. She ranks fourth in the single season points category in the Deacon record books and third in goals in a season.

Meijer and the Deacons face Maryland in NCAA semifinal action on Friday night in Kentner Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
