WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - For the first time in almost four weeks, the fifth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team plays in its home turf of Kentner Stadium as it hosts Radford in a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday. The Demon Deacons hold a 2-2 record after topping No. 8 Duke, 4-2, last Saturday in Durham. Wake received goals from four different players in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opener. Melissa Martin led the team in the win recording a goal and two assists in which she was awarded the conference's Player of the Week for her efforts. Martin received the honor for the first time in her career and is the first Deac to notch the honor this season. Chelsea Cipriani, Liz Fries and Emily Cummings also scored goals against the Blue Devils, while Michelle Kasold, Regina Shannon and Aileen Davis recorded assists. Radford is coming off of a 4-0 loss to Duke and holds a 2-3 record heading into tomorrow's game. Junior forward Erica Lawrence leads the team with five points (two goals and one assist). Wake Forest leads the all-time series 13-6-1 over Radford. The Deacs have not dropped a game to the Highlanders since 1992. - WakeForestSports.com -
