Sept. 3, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee announced Wednesday that Wake Forest University has been selected to host the 2009 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships.

"The committee is excited to bring the championship back to Wake Forest and the city of Winston-Salem," said Nancy Lyons, chair of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Committee. "Wake Forest hosted a great championship in 2006 and we are looking forward to another outstanding championship event for all involved."

The championship, which consists of two national semifinal games and the championship game, will be played November 20-22 at Kentner Stadium on the Wake Forest University campus. This marks the fourth time the city of Winston-Salem will play host to the championship as the event was first held there in 1995 and then again in 2004 and 2006.

The 2008 Division I Field Hockey Championships will be held November 21-23 at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.
