WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Melissa Martin earned national Player of the Week honors from Women's Field Hockey.com for her solid performance in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge over the weekend. Martin opened the season with goals in back-to-back games to help the Demon Deacons go 2-0 in the inter-conference challenge in Winston-Salem. Martin, a junior midfielder out of Lancaster, Pa., added the tying goal in Wake Forest's 3-2 victory over No. 5 Iowa after assisting in Wake Forest's first goal of the game just ten minutes earlier. On Sunday Martin scored first for the Deacons to tie the score at 1-1 against No. 9 Michigan and followed with an assist serving as pusher for a successful penalty corner. No. 3 Wake Forest will be back in action this weekend, hosting top-ranked North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. and No. 7 James Madison on Sunday at 2 p.m. - www.WakeForestSports.com -
