Wake Forest Field Hockey Announces 1998 Signees

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey coach Jennifer Averill has announced the signing of four new players for the 1998-99 school year. All four will enroll at Wake Forest as freshmen in the fall of 1998. The Wake Forest field hockey 1998 recruiting class:

* Katie Kubic (Virginia Beach, VA/Frank W. Cox H.S.) Kubic is a second-team high school All-American with outstanding field hockey skills. A versatile player, she can play center midfield as well as on the left and right sides.

* Carrie Neidhardt (Washington Crossing, PA/Council Rock H.S.) Neidhardt is an extremely talented player and a first-team high school All-American. She has shown she can perform well on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field.

* Nienke van Ruiten (Bussum, The Netherlands/Gemeetelijk Gymnasium) van Ruiten is the second player in the last three years to join the Deacs from the Netherlands. She brings a great deal of talent and experience, as well as speed and a keen sense for scoring. van Ruiten played for the Ladies' First Team of Gooishe in the Netherlands.

* Jennie Shelton (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra H.S.) Shelton is a first-team all-state and first-team Mid-Penn forward who will bring a great deal of speed and aggressiveness to the Deacon front line.
