Field Hockey to Receive Halftime Honors at Maryland Basketball Game

Feb. 28, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest University will honor its field hockey squad for the team's accomplishments in 2007, including an eighth consecutive invitation to the NCAA Final Four, during halftime of the men's basketball game against Maryland on Thursday night.

The Demon Deacons, led by Head Coach Jen Averill, finished the season 16-6-0, advancing to the Atlantic Coast Conference Finals and NCAA Final Four before ending the year. After a rocky 1-2 start, the Deacs rallied mid-season to pull a 9-0 win-streak, including an upset over second-ranked Maryland in the semifinals of the ACC tournament.

Junior midfielder Michelle Kasold and sophomore midfielder Aileen Davis picked up All-American honors, while seven Demon Deacons were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region Team.
