CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - No. 15 Virginia scored first, but the second-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team scored six goals in a row to post a 6-2 victory over the Cavaliers on Saturday in Charlottesville. Wake Forest is now 15-2 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Virginia is 11-7 and 1-3 in the ACC. Virginia's Paige Selenski opened the game with her 16th goal of the season, scoring in the 7th minute. Hilary Moore answered with a tying goal just over a minute later, marking the forward's first goal since she received nine stitches from a ball to the chin against Michigan State on October 11. Moore added a second goal, assisted by Michelle Kasold, in the 21st minute. Junior Melissa Martin also added two goals in the contest, posting two unassisted scores in the 45th and 49th minute. Wake Forest out-shot the Cavaliers 21-10 during the contest, holding a 13-6 advantage in the first half. Deacon goalkeeper Crystal Duffield logged three saves, while three keepers rotated in the UVA cage, combining for 8 saves total. The Demon Deacons will finish out the regular season on Nov. 1 and 2 on the road, facing Boston College in Chestnut Hill, followed by Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.
