WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The second-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team defeated No. 6 Duke 4-1 in the first match of the Atlantic Coast Conference slate on Saturday at Kentner Stadium. The Demon Deacons are now 5-0, 1-0 and will face Indiana on Sunday at 2 p.m. With the loss, the Blue Devils are 3-2 and 0-1 in the ACC. Wake Forest's Hilary Moore was the first to score in the game, taking a cross from Michelle Kasold just over ten minutes into the contest. Duke's Megan Deakins knotted the score just before halftime, converting on a penalty corner. Wake Forest turned up the heat in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals to set the final score at 4-1. Kim Romansky posted the final two goals of the game, taking advantage of breakaway plays from Minou Gimbrere and Michelle Kasold. Aileen Davis added the first goal of the half when she caught a rebounded shot off Duke keeper Samantha Nelson during a penalty corner.
