Wake Forest Downs Appalachian State 5-0

BOONE, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team gained its second shutout in three games by defeating the Appalachian State Mountaineers 5-0 Tuesday night.

Katie Kubic scored the first Wake Forest goal off an assist from Jenny Everett 13 minutes into the game. Jennie Shelton and Jenny Everett scored one goal each to give Wake a 3-0 half time lead. Jemima Cameron scored both of the Deacons' goals in the second half.

Cameron led Wake Forest with two goals, both coming late in the contest. Kubic, Shelton and Everett added one goal each for the Deacons.

With the win, Wake Forest improves to 3-0 on the season. The Deacons return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 when they play host to the Duke Blue Devils in a non-conference game at Kentner Stadium. Gametime is set for 1 p.m.
