CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Laree Beans recorded the game-winning goal at the 5:30 mark of the first overtime, giving third-ranked North Carolina a 2-1 victory over the second-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons before a record crowd of 1,318 at Francis E. Henry Stadium Friday night.

Wake Forest (1-2) capitalized on its only shot of the second period when senior Chelsea Cipriani assisted Emily Cummings' first collegiate goal that tied the score at 1-1. The Tar Heels (3-0) recorded eight shots in the second frame, but were unable to build on a 1-0 halftime lead.

North Carolina's Elizabeth Drazdowksi tallied the first score at the 14:51 mark of the first half on a penalty corner.

Minou Gimbrere and Hilary Moore applied offensive pressure at the end of the first half with back-to-back shots. Gimbrere's attempt caromed before reaching the net setting up Moore's shot which was saved by Tar Heel goalkeeper Brianna O'Donnell.

Wake Forest returns to action on Friday, Sept. 8 when it faces Duke in Durham concluding a four-game road swing.
