WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Candice Jackson has been named assistant coach for the Wake Forest women's basketball team and will specialize in work with the Demon Deacon guards in addition to assisting in recruiting efforts.
Jackson joins the Wake Forest staff after four successful seasons with the University Richmond, where she helped take the team from a 13-17 record in 2005-06 to a 24-10 finish in 2008-09.
Jackson lettered at Michigan State from 2000-04, earning a degree in Family Community Services while playing as a guard for Joanne McCallie, the current head women's basketball coach at Duke. After just one year of graduate assistant work with the Spartans, Jackson's strong knowledge of the game and ability to relate to student-athletes earned her a Division I job at Richmond.
"I am delighted to have Candice join our program here at Wake Forest. She brings an outstanding coaching skill set and has great energy and commitment to the game," Wake Forest head coach Mike Petersen said.
"She will do an outstanding job helping to develop our guards and will be a great role model and mentor for all of our student athletes." Jackson hails from Lansing, Michigan, where she was a three-time MVP at Lansing Everett High School.
