WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host the Virginia Cavaliers on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Joel Coliseum. The game will be the first conference match up of the season for the Cavaliers, who are 10-4 in non-conference play. Virginia last faced Rider on January 2, taking a 98-51 win for its highest point total this season. The Cavaliers are 4-0 in recent contests. The squad's most recent loss came on December 5 at Connecticut (75-45). Junior forward Lyndra Littles and sophomore guard Monica Wright each lead the Cavalier scoring charge, averaging just over 16 points per game. Aisha Mohammed has the team-high rebounding average with 8.9 per game. The Deacons (12-3, 0-1) will look for a victory over the Cavs for the first time since 2003. Historically, Wake Forest only has two wins since the series began in 1975. The first time was in Charlottesville in 1978. Thursday night brought a rude awakening for the Deacs, as the No. 5 Maryland Terrapins handed the squad an 83-49 loss in the conference play kick-off. The 34-point deficit at the final buzzer was more than triple the team's previous season-high scoring margin in a loss. The game will wrap up a six-game homestand for Wake Forest, with the next contest scheduled in Atlanta against Georgia Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m.
