RALEIGH (AP) - Chasity Melvin had 17 points and nine rebounds to help No. 12 North Carolina State retake a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference lead with a 64-46 victory Friday night over reeling Wake Forest.

Wake Forest still trailed 31-28 following a jumper by Shaffer from inside the key with 14:40 left in the game. But N.C. State blew open the game over the next 7:32 by hitting 11-of-13 shots, including eight straight in one stretch.

Lewis scored back-to-back baskets to spark an 11-2 run in the second half and ended the spurt with a 3-pointer for a 42-30 Wolfpack lead with 12:30 remaining.

Erb gave N.C. State its biggest lead at 61-41 when she took a behind-the-back pass from Lewis for a fast-break layup then added a free throw with 2:48 to go.
