UT-Arlington Routs Wake Forest

ST. LOUIS, MO.- Texas-Arlington ran away from Wake Forest 65-44 in a first round game of the First Coca Cola Billiken Classic on Friday in a non-conference women's basketball game at the historic Bauman-Eberhardt Athletic Center. The Mavericks Tanya Strong poured in 24 points and grabbed six boards to pace UTA (2-1) to its second victory.

Both teams struggled in the first half as the mavericks slowly moved to a 24-20 advantage at the break. But UTA went on to outscore the Deacons by 17 in the second half and led by as many as 30.

UTA's Stacie Terry contributed 19 points, and Jalila Darez contributed 10 off the bench. Emon McMillian led Wake with 11 points and seven rebounds as the Deacons fell to 1-1.

UTA challenges the host Billikens in the championship game Saturday night at 7 p.m. The Deacons hook up with Tennessee at 5 p.m. in the consolation game.
