WFU - UNC Postgame Quotes

Feb. 16, 2005

Recap |  Final Stats |  Photo Gallery

Wake Forest Coach Mike Petersen

On the game:

"When we are aggressive we are good. When we play with out being afraid of missing we are good. Carolina is one of the best defensive teams in the country. Bottom line, we just did not play good enough tonight."

"I had a lot of respect for the conference when I got here. We are by far the best league in the country. Look at the stretch since we've played Clemson, obviously this is a great league and we don't take any nights off. Wake Forest has resiliency and the ability to compete every night and this team competes."

"Honestly, I did not think that we would have four turnovers and still be ahead at the half. One thing we talked about before the game was valuing the ball and being aggressive."

UNC Coach Sylvia Hatchell

On the game:

"We started playing defense in the second half. In the first half Wake was red hot. We were not playing defense and got out rebounded. I thought we played much better defense in the second half and got some good transition buckets. We switched assignments at halftime on defense and we did much better."

"We mainly just trailed them and stayed on their three point shooters. Our defense helped to get our offense going. Wake is a tough team just like everyone in the league is tough on their home court. They are a good team. They are a much better team than their record shows."
