Nov. 19, 2003 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- The 13th ranked Wake Forest women's cross country team was selected Monday to compete at the NCAA Championships held in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Monday, November 24th. Last weekend at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Greenville, NC, the Demon Deacons placed third overall out of 26 total schools while Wake Forest's men's cross country team came in eighth out of 23 schools competing. Sean Stevens was the top finisher from the men's team in each of its six races this season, and was selected individually to compete at the NCAA Championships.
The 2002 Wake Forest women's team was co-champion of the ACC Championship, and went on to finish first at the Southeast Regional before placing ninth overall at the NCAA Championships. Earlier this season on October 18th, the Demon Deacons competed in the NCAA Pre-Nationals on the same course in Cedar Falls, Iowa which will be used for the NCAA Championships and placed fourth out of 33 teams. The men's 10k race will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT on Nov. 24, followed by the women's 6k race at approximately 12:15 p.m.
