Greenville, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's cross country team placed seventh of 30 teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country Championship on Saturday. The Deacons finished with 216 points in the 10,000 meter run.

William and Mary claimed the team title with 68 points. Virginia edged NC State by five points, 91 to 96, to claim second place. Duke placed fourth overall with 198 points, and James Madison rounded out the top-five with 204 points.

Senior Sean Stevens placed 24th individually to lead the Deacons. Stevens completed the race with a time of 30:45.3. Freshman Jeremy Fisico placed 38th overall with a time of 31:18.6. Senior Shane Ahlers placed 41st, running a time of 31:28.3.

Senior Brandon Bartholomew placed 55th for the Deacons with a time of 31:50.5. Senior Brad Wharton placed 61st with a time of 31:57.8, and sophomore John Compton placed one spot behind running a 31:58.4. Freshman Mark Russell rounded out the Deacons, running a time of 32:22.5.
