College Park, Md. - Shane Ahlers led the Demon Deacon men's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the 52nd annual ACC Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. Ahlers, a junior transfer from Oregon, finished 19th overall, with a 25:28.3 time on the men's 8k course. Seminole Andrew Lemoncello captured the individual title while N.C. State won the team championship.

Ahlers led the team and won the East Carolina Meet on Oct. 2. In the pre-nationals event he placed second on the Deacon squad, behind junior Sean Stevens. Stevens posted a 28th place finish at the ACC race this morning. Stevens and Ahlers have finished first or second for the Deacons in every race in October.

Joel Conn and John Compton placed 37th and 40th, respectively, with times of 26:18.2 and 26:24.6. Brad Wharton finished 48th, Brian Smith 60th and Ottie Kerley 75th.

The Deacons average time was 26:09.84 for a 2:10:49.20 total time and 172 point performance.

Wake Forest returns to action at the NCAA Southeast Regionals in Greenville, N.C. on Nov. 13.
