WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Alan Susi, a member of the Wake Forest men's track & field team placed eighth in the javelin throw at the Under-19 Junior Nationals in Denton, Texas June 23-24, with a personal best distance of 190'7". Susi, who will be a sophomore thrower for the Demon Deacons this year, hails from Cumberland, R.I.

"I'm pleased with the success that Alan had after taking almost a month off," Wake Forest men's cross country and track & field head coach Noel Ruebel said. "He threw a personal best 187'7" (sixth place) at the ACC Championships the third weekend of May and that was the last time he threw until we worked out a few days before going to Denton. He had a good series, throwing five of six throws over 180 feet, which is very consistent. We're really looking forward to this coming year when he will start competing for us in not only the javelin, but the hammer and discus, too."

A two-time All-American in the National Scholastic Track & Field Championships, Susi will now add a Junior All-American certificate to his list of accomplishments with his recent eighth place finish in the javelin at the 2000 Junior Nationals.
