GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest's John Goodridge was named 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year, and Nolan Swanson earned Most Valuable Performer of the Year as voted upon by the nine ACC coaches after last weekend's ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Goodridge received his second ACC Coach of the Year honor, the last in 1995. Wake Forest finished the meet with 108.50 points, placing them third overall. This is Wake Forest's highest finish since 1995 when they finished second. Goodridge also coached his student-athletes to six first place finishes in the 100m, 200m, 5,000m, 3,000m steeplechase, 4x100 meter relay and decathlon.

Nolan Swanson, a Sherman, NY native, finished the outdoor championship with two ACC titles as well as a second place finish in the 10,000m run. Swanson recorded first place finishes, one in the 5,000 meter run where he ran a 14:37.92 time, four seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Then, in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Swanson paced the competition and finished with a time of 9:19.55. His second place finish came in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 31:06.56.
