BLACKSBURG, Va. and BOONE, N.C. - The Wake Forest track and field team wrapped up competition over the weekend at the Virginia Tech Elite Invitational and Appalachian State Limited Open on Saturday.

In her first spring event, freshman distance runner Marley Burns placed second in the 5000m run with a time of 17:44.71 in Blacksburg. Anna Nosenko, the newest addition to the Wake Forest roster, finished at 9:51.73 in the 3000m run, good for sixth place. Nicole Schappert finished up a solid distance and mid distance outing for the Demon Deacons at the Virginia Tech Elite Invite with a first place finish in the mile, running 4:51.04.

In Boone, Liz Hankinson led three Wake Forest finishers in the mile, taking first place with a mark of 5:30.07. Suzie Clinchy and Kelly Laffey followed with sixth and seventh places, respectively, posting times of 5:41.54 and 5:44.52.

Molly Kennedy at three top ten finishes at the Appalachian State Limited Open, placing sixth in the 55m hurdles (8.42), seventh in the shot put (37-08.50) and first in the 300 meter dash with a time of 40.79.

On February 15 the track team is headed to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
