Nolan Swanson is Rewriting School Record Books

Places seventh at Stanford Invitational.

March 31, 1998

Wake Forest senior Nolan Swanson (Sherman, NY) finished seventh in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational over the weekend with a school record breaking time of 29:11.66. He broke the old record held by Ben Schoonver of 29:11.98 set in 1991. Schoonver finished that season as an All-American.

On March 13 at the UNC Charlotte Invitational, Swanson ran a time of 8:17.82 to win the 3,000 meters and establish a new Wake Forest record in that event. A week later, he broke his own record in the 3,000 with a time of 8:17.24 at the Wake Forest Relays.

In four races Swanson has entered this season, he has won three. He and the rest of the Deacons are preparing this week for the Duke Invitational to be held in Durham, NC this Friday.
