"Greetings from Athens"
This is a series of blogs written by senior Andrew Hamar, member of the Demon Deacon men's tennis team. Wake Forest is participating in the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. The Deacons continue their postseason run on Thursday against Virginia at 3:00 p.m. Hamar gives a behind-the-scenes look at traveling with the Deacons.

Well, having lost yesterday to a strong UVA team, Mr Mike Vest has kindly given me the opportunity to write a final blog. We’ve had a good season, very good, and we are all proud of the progress we have made, and hopefully the wee snappers can keep it going after next year without myself and Todd Paul-Boreel. Personally, I was a little disappointed with my performance yesterday, but as the Zinn master said, we’ve hopefully laid the foundations for a promising future for Wake Forest Men’s Tennis.
Without trying to get sentimental it’s been a great experience for me. I’ve had four years of losing to TP in video games (3 and a half losing to him in tennis), 3 years total of seeing Simpson in shorts with bright green horses on them and croakies (gosh I hate those Simps) (but I do love you), 4 years of Zinner (enough said) and many more people who have meant so much who may have left or still be here.
Hopefully Wake Forest Men’s Tennis can keep building on this year’s success, and maybe I’ll get an invite back to an ACC Championship match in the near future. I appreciate all the support I have received, and I’ll be sure to follow Forman’s antics closely, and Cory Parr helping us win some titles.
That's the end. God Bless Fried Chicken

So having had pressure from many different teammates and their wives about the last blog, I have decided to ween out the abuse and stick to what's important: our sweet 16 match against UVA today.
We play at 3pm and are all really excited to get out there. Forman is excited to get that lazy bum of his out of bed, and work some magic. If only he could work some magic in other areas also.
We had a good banquet last night, with an interesting speaker and some lovely waitresses. The support staff were particularly pleased about the servers. Some good food and a good practice this morning and its time to get ready for our match. This blog has been done in less than a minute so apologies for the lack of humor and information, but I'm still funnier than Jason Morganstein.
That's day 2 finished, and hopefully there'll be more days to come after some successful tennis.
God bless America

Having just finished a dramatic regional, the Wake Forest men’s tennis team set off early this morning to Athens, Georgia for the sweet 16 of NCAA’s. Having luckily been given the golf teams’ Concorde for this trip, everybody was in a good mood, and excited to play at a stage where no Wake forest men’s tennis team had played before. I personally was extremely happy as Mike Vest had given me the honor of writing our daily blog (much to his dismay) due to my scholarly writing skills exemplified by my 2.4 English GPA at school.
So as we drove on down to good ol’ Georgia we were wondering if Steve Wiley could be emotionally prized away from the soccer team, Cory Parr could handle several hours without Aileen tending his hernia (sorry Aileen), and if TP could manage the withdrawal symptoms from not playing an online video game with his girlfriend Maeke Boreel (pronounced BoreAl, must get that right for the wedding).
We finally arrived after what seemed like a flight to Scotland, and managed to get a good 2 hour practice in, getting a good lather.
Afterwards, some of us had last minute papers to finish and a few other errands, so we had a couple hours to relax and get a nice massage from the freshmen, one of whom still needs to clean Charlie’s shoes for tomorrow’s practice.
As the day drew to a close, we had a scrumptious, yes scrumptious, meal by our host family, and had a chance to get a good sleep and prepare ourselves for our match against UVA on Thursday at 3pm. It would be great to have people watch, so if you can make it out please do.
This is rounding off day 1 of Wake Forest’s men’s tennis trip to the sweet 16.
