WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's tennis athletes Cory Parr and Steven Forman were named the No. 2 doubles team in the nation in the ITA preseason rankings. Parr and Forman received All-American status for their performance in the 2007-08 season, accumulating a 22-9 record with wins over seven opponents ranked in the ITA's Top 25. The tandem advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2008 NCAA doubles tournament, marking the second consecutive season Wake Forest has sent a doubles pair deep into postseason play. The WFU team is one of three Atlantic Coast Conference representatives in the preseason doubles top 10. Daniel Vallverdu/Carl Sundberg from Miami hold the No. 1 position, while Andy Orban/Boris Fetbroyt of Maryland rank sixth. Parr also earned a team-high rank of 24th on the singles poll, while Forman stands at a career-high No. 38. The Demon Deacons were scheduled to begin fall tournament play this weekend at the Rice Invitational, but the tournament was canceled as a precautionary move due to Hurricane Ike. Wake Forest will now begin the fall slate at the historic Southern Intercollegiates at the University of Georgia September 19-21.
