Parr, Forman Selected to NCAA Individual Championships

May 1, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's tennis athletes Cory Parr and Steven Forman received at-large bids to the NCAA Individual Championships, set for May 21-26 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Junior Cory Parr was selected in the at-large category in both singles and doubles. Parr, out of Jericho, N.Y., placed 46th in the most recent ITA rankings and leads the Demon Deacons with an 18-9 dual match singles record.

Steven Forman, a Del Mar, Calif. native, was selected with Parr for the doubles championships. The Wake Forest duo is ranked seventh in the nation with a 16-7 dual match record, including a 12-5 mark at No. 1 and a 6-3 conference finish.

The upcoming championships will be the first individual NCAA outing for both Parr and Forman. Last season, Todd Paul and Mariusz Adamski set a new precedent in individual competition, advancing to the doubles semifinals before bowing out to eventual champions Kevin Anderson and Ryan Rowe of Illinois.

The Wake Forest squad will begin play at the team championships on May 10, facing Auburn in Athens, Ga.
