Men and Women's Tennis Have Flight Champions as ACC Tennis Championships Begin

WINSTON-SALEM - Both the Wake Forest men's and women's tennis teams have ACC doubles flight champions as the ACC Tennis Championships begin in Atlanta, GA on Friday.

On the men's team, junior Myles Clouston and freshman Raul Munoz finished the ACC No. 1 doubles season with a record of 6-1. For the year the tandem owns a 28-8 overall record.

Senior Lule Aydin and freshman Mariel Verban finished the ACC No. 2 doubles season with a record of 7-1. With that mark, the team shares the No. 2 flight championship with Clemson's Etresia Kruger and Kate-Maree Mair. Aydin and Verban enter the ACC Championships ranked as the 55th best doubles team in the country.

Two Wake Forest competitors earned runner-up spots in singles play. Clouston was 5-2 at No. 1 singles for coach Jeff Zinn's Deacons to finish as a runner up to flight champion Roberto Bracone of NC State. Jackie Houston was a runner-up at No. 6 singles to Laura Zifer of Duke. Houston was 5-1 in ACC play for the women's team which finished the regular season in second place in the conference for the fourth straight season.
