Oct. 20, 2008 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's second-seeded Cory Parr was unable to stop Virginia's top-seeded Dominic Inglot in the title match of the ITA Regional Tournament, taking the runner up slot in the event with a 6-1, 6-4 loss.
Parr and doubles partner Steven Forman also advanced the quarterfinals of the doubles competition before being topped by eventual draw winners Sanam Singh and Houston Barrick of Virginia.
In the opening set of the final singles match both competitors exchanged games to start 1-1. Inglot then used his powerful serve to race out to 4-1 lead, dishing out several service aces along the way.
Serving against a three-game deficit, Parr battled through the sixth game to hold a game-point advantage. Inglot stayed alive, reclaimed the advantage and took the game win on Parr's next serve.
Inglot broke Parr in the opening game of the second set and followed up with a second win on serve, but Parr held Inglot to just one point in the third game to stay close with a 2-1 set score. Inglot was unable to break Parr a second time, but the opening game win gave the Virginia standout the edge that was needed in the 6-4 match.
Parr is now 6-1 in fall play and will join the rest of the squad in two weeks at the ITA Indoors Tournament in Charlottesville Nov. 6-9.
