NORCROSS, Ga. - Virginia's Tommy Croker downed Wake Forest's Brett Mauro at No. 5 singles to clinch the fourth-seeded Cavaliers 4-0 win over fifth-seeded Wake Forest, Friday at the quarterfinals of the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championships at the Racquet Club of the South. Croker defeated Mauro, 6-4, 7-6 to move the Cavaliers (14-8) into Saturday's semifinals match with top seeded Duke. Wake Forest (11-15) was eliminated from the tournament with the loss. Virginia opened play by winning the doubles point, defeating Wake Forest in the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Virginia also dominated in singles winning at No. 1, No.2 and No. 5.
