Men's Tennis Squeaks Past N.C. State

Deacons will close out regular season on Sunday.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's tennis team won a 4-3 decision over N.C. State Friday afternoon at the Indoor Tennis Center. The victory improves the team's season record to 14-9 (4-3 ACC).

Wake Forest jumped out to an early lead by dominating doubles. Wake's star team of Myles Clouston and Raul Munoz won at No. 1, 9-8. Senior Jimmy Chou and sophomore Andres Guzman combined for an 8-3 win at No. 2.

In singles action, Clouston dropped a three-set decision to Roberto Bracone (#61) at No. 1. After wins by Munoz and Johan Hansen at Nos. 3 and 4 respectively, the match came down to the No. 6 match between Lars Kabiersch of Wake Forest and Devang Desai of N.C. State. Kabiersch won an intense struggle in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

The Demon Deacons host Duke this Sunday, April 19 at 2 p.m.
