WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's tennis team was defeated by the fifth-ranked Duke Blue Devils 5-2 at Leighton Tennis Stadium Wednesday night. Wake grabbed a 1-0 lead by winning two of three doubles matches. Michael Murray and Brett Mauro defeated Andres Pedroso and Michael Yani 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Justin Kaufmann and Trent Brendon defeated Pedro Escudero and Joel Spicher 8-3 at No. 2 to give the Deacs the early lead. Duke came back to win five of the six singles matches to take the 5-2 victory. The lone Wake singles win was Brendon, who defeated Yorke Allen 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. With the loss, Wake drops to 8-8 overall and 1-4 in the ACC, while Duke improves to 12-4 and 2-0. The Deacs will return to action on Saturday, April 1 when they travel to Clemson, SC to take on the Clemson Tigers.
