CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The 64th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team was defeated by the 38th-ranked Cavaliers of Virginia 4-2 Saturday, March 25 at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville. The Deacons fall to 6-7 overall on the season and 0-3 in the ACC. In match one of singles competition, Raul Munoz lost 6-0, 2-0 to Brian Vahaly. Munoz retired in the second set due to a back injury. At No. 2 singles, Michael Murray was defeated 6-2, 7-6 by Huntley Montgomery. Bright spots for the Deacs came at the No. 5 and 6 positions as Justin Kaufmann defeated Brian Hunter 6-3, 7-6, and Trent Brendon triumphed over Robert Adendroth 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 before Adendroth retired with an ankle injury. In doubles competition, Kaufmann and Brendon won at the 3 spot defeating Hunter and Adendroth 8-5. Wake Forest returns to action on Sunday, March 26 when it competes against West Virginia and Maryland in College Park, MD. Play begins at 9:00 a.m. against West Virginia and 12:00 p.m. versus Maryland.
