March 18, 1999 MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Wake Forest (6-6) lost to 10th ranked Southern Methodist University (11-4) in the first round of the Blue-Gray Classic, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon. The loss snapped the Deacons' four match winning streak. The lone Deacon to record a victory was freshman Justin Kaufmann. Kaufmann recorded his seventh straight victory with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Keith Pollack. In doubles competition, Wake's duo of Myles Clouston and Raul Munoz had their nine-match winning streak snapped by the team of Pollack and Dustin Mauck, ranked fifth by the ITA. It was the combo's first loss since the finals of the ACC Indoor Championships. The Deacons' will face Alabama in the consolation round on Friday at 11 a.m. in Montgomery, AL.
