Feb. 26, 2000 BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The 41st-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated the 65th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies 6-1 here on Saturday. Wake won five of the six singles matches. Freshman Michael Murray played at No. 1 singles defeating Davor Dupljnk 6-2, 6-2. Michael Berger defeated Michael Kurz 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 at No.2 and Johan Hansen played at No.3 defeating Gerard Baynham 6-1, 6-1. The Deacons swept the three doubles matches with Hansen and Brett Mauro playing at No.1 and defeating Dupljnk and Saber Kadiri 8-6. Raul Munoz and Murray defeated Baynham and Andrew Vu 8-5 at No.2 and Berger and Justin Kaufmann defeated Kurz and Jay Bruner 8-5 at No.3. With the win, Wake improves to 6-1 on the season. The Deacons will be back in action on March 2 when they host the South Carolina Gamecocks. The match is set to start at 2 p.m. at Leighton Tennis Stadium.
