WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Junior forward Zack Schilawski was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team on Thursday morning, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Schilawski, who was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team in 2007, has compiled a 3.65 grade point average with a major in biology. A native of Cary, N.C., Schilawski has been named to the Dean's List all four semesters of his academic career and is a two-time member of the ACC All-Academic Team.

Schilawski has also been a top performer on the field for the top-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team. Schilawski has scored six goals and added four assists so far in 2008. Schilawski scored the game-winning goal in the 2007 national championship game against Ohio State and also recorded an assist in Wake's semifinal win over Virginia Tech. For his career, he has 21 goals and 12 assists while playing in 67 games, including 20 starts.

By virtue of being named to the academic all-district first team, Schilawski will be on the national ballot for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team. The Academic All-America Team will be released on Wednesday, November 19.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's games, be of sophomore standing athletically and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3.
