GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior midfielder Austin da Luz was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week and Soccer America Men's Player of the Week on Tuesday after coming off the bench and scoring a goal and adding an assist in Wake Forest's 4-2 victory at No. 2 Maryland. Da Luz came off the bench in the first half of the game against the Terrapins and made an immediate impact. The Winston-Salem native assisted on Zack Schilawski's game-winning goal early in the second half. Da Luz added an insurance goal in the 59th minute, playing a brilliant shot into the upper right hand side of the net. The three points for da Luz in the Maryland game equaled a career high. He now has two goals, three assists and seven points on the season. Da Luz is the third Wake Forest player to win ACC Player of the Week honors this season. Marcus Tracy and Lyle Adams earned conference honors earlier in the season. No other team in the league has had more than one player earn conference accolades this season. Da Luz is the second Wake Forest player to earn national player of the week honors this season. Tracy was named College Soccer News Player of the Week earlier in the year. The Deacons are back in action on Wednesday as they face in-state foe Elon at 7 p.m. (ET). -WakeForestSports.com-
