WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team takes the field for the first time in the 2009 season on Saturday night when it plays host to Liberty in an exhibition match at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium.

The match is one of two exhibitions scheduled for the 2009 preseason. Wake Forest will travel to Furman on Thursday, August 27, for a 7 p.m. game against the Paladins.

Wake Forest brings back four starters from the 2008 team that finished the year with a 21-2-1 record and advanced to the NCAA College Cup. Senior Zack Schilawski is the leading returning goal scorer for the Demon Deacons with 11 goals in 2008. Also returning are M.A.C. Hermann Trophy candidates Corben Bone and Ike Opara, along with senior goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald.

Liberty returns seven starters from last year's team that finished the season with a 10-5-3 overall record and a 4-3-1 mark in Big South play. Sophomore midfielder Karol Charok was named to Top Drawer Soccer's all-rookie team after finishing his freshman year with eight assists.

Admission for the match against Liberty is free of charge.

Live stats and a recap of the match will be available on WakeForestSports.com.
