WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's soccer head coach Jay Vidovich announced the addition of three student-athletes to the 2008 recruiting class. With the newcomers, the class now has six high school All-Americans who will join the Demon Deacons in the fall.

Doug Ryan - Goalkeeper - Statesville, N.C.
Ryan is a 6'6 goalkeeper from the Charlotte Soccer Club, the same club that produced former Deacon goalkeeper, Brian Edwards who now plays in the MLS with Toronto FC.

"Doug's presence alone at 6'6 will help him compete for a spot and play in the ACC. Being a big guy he's got some work to do with his quickness and his footwork but we really like the potential in this young man," Vidovich said.

Alfredo Rodriguez-Allen - Forward - Guatemala City, Guatemala, IMG Soccer Academy
Rodriguez-Allen joins the Demon Deacons from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. coached by Tom Durkin. The IMG Academy also produced former Wake standouts and current MLS players Michael Parkhurst and Steven Keel. Rodriguez-Allen, a Guatemala native, is also a member of the Guatemalan U-17 National Team Pool and has competed for his country in U-17 World Cup Qualifying.

"Alfredo has some great attacking qualities, he loves to go at people and he is skilled and confident technically. He comes from a great program down at IMG with Coach Tom Durkin and we look forward to working with him," Vidovich said.

Sam Redmond - Midfielder - Asheville, NC
Sam is a hard-nosed two way midfielder who has competed at the highest level of U.S. youth soccer. Redmond is an NSCAA All-American, member of USYSA Region III team and two-time adidas ESP all-star. Redmond becomes the sixth All-American in the 2008 recruiting class.

"Sam joins us with hopefully a lot to prove. He has competed in Regional and National pools and has always stuck out as one of the most competitive players on the field. He is excited about his opportunity here at Wake Forest and we are very excited to see what he does with it," Vidovich said.
