BALTIMORE, Md. - Wake Forest men's soccer head coach Jay Vidovich was named the 2007 NSCAA Coach of the Year, following a successful season with the Demon Deacons that ended with 2007 NCAA College Cup Title.

The Demon Deacons' 22-2-2 season record was the best in program history and was recently capped off with three Wake Forest selections in the MLS SuperDraft. In 14 seasons, Vidovich has a record of 187-81-27 and has never had a losing season as head coach.

The honor was presented at the NSCAA convention over the weekend, where the Deacons also earned FieldTurf's Team of the Year Award.

On the eve of the NSCAA event, Vidovich was named the 2008 Walt Chyzowych Achievement Award winner, which recognized coaches that have had a national impact in the development and growth of the sport and its athletes.

MLS SuperDraft Update

Three Demon Deacons were picked in 2008 MLS SuperDraft in Baltimore over the weekend. Midfielder/Defender Pat Phelan was picked tenth overall by Toronto FC, followed by goalkeeper Brian Edwards who was also taken by Toronto in the second round. Defender Julian Valentin is headed to California to play for the L.A. Galaxy, who picked the Demon Deacon captain in the third round.
