WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman midfielder Jamal Seale tallied two goals and two assists to earn Tournament MVP honors as Wake Forest routed St. Bonaventure, 5-0, in the championship game of the 1998 Nike-Wake Forest Classic on a muggy Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium.

Seale, who also scored a goal in the Deacs' 2-1 win over San Francisco on Friday night, put Wake Forest on the board just 1:54 into the title match, tapping in a long cross from freshman forward Ben Stafford. The Deacs (3-0) dominated St. Bonaventure (1-1) throughout the half, but held only a slight 1-0 lead at halftime. Wake kicked into high gear in the second period, though, peppering Bonnies' goalkeeper Rob Vartughian with 14 shots on goal. Seale fed junior forward Trent Lind for a breakaway goal at 53:29, then scored on his own breakaway at 69:24, taking a lead pass from David Kaweesi-Mukooza and juking Vartughian for the easy score. Seale then set up Stafford for a goal at 77:48, and senior midfielder Serge Daniv iced the game with an unassisted score at 88:38. Vartughian finished with eight saves, while Wake's Sean Conner made six saves in net. WFU outshot St. Bonnies, 23-10.

In the day's first game, North Carolina cruised past San Francisco, 6-2, to earn third-place honors in the tournament. UNC (2-1) jumped on a sluggish Dons (0-2) squad early, scoring just 4:50 into the match and leading 3-0 at halftime. Freshman forward Chris Carrieri led the Tar Heels with two goals and an assist on the day, while sophomore forward Caleb Norkus and sophomore defender Michael Bucy added a goal and an assist apiece. Both of USF's goals were notched by junior midfielder Alexsander Akerjordet in the second half.

Wake Forest hosts No. 25 UNC Charlotte on Friday, Sept. 11th, at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium
