Wake Forest junior Sean Moore defeated Eddie Peekels 3 and 1 this morning to advance to the finals of the prestigious North and South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst, NC.

Moore will play Ryan Posey, who edged Demon Deacon senior Kyle Reifers 1-up in the other semifinal match, in Sunday's final.

Posey advanced to his second consecutive North and South Amateur final by defeating Reifers.

Moore, who has competed numerous times in the North and South Junior and Donald Ross Junior, looks for his first victory at Pinehurst.

The first match of the morning was a rematch of last year's semifinal match. Posey and Refiers needed 21 holes to decide the outcome. This year's match needed all of the scheduled 18 holes to determine one of two finalists.

Posey was the first to strike when Reifers three putted the par 5 fourth green for bogey. Reifers doubled his lead to 2 up by making birdie three on the 7th. Reifers immediately reduced the margin to 1 down by making par on the 8th hole. Posey was again the beneficiary of a balky Reifers putter when another three-putt green cost the Walker Cupper. Reifers again cut the margin in half when he birdied the 13th hole. The last five holes where halved with pars as Posey advanced to the finals on Sunday.

In the last semifinal match, Moore jumped out to an early insurmountable lead finding himself 5 up after six holes over Eddie Peckels. Peckels, who gained entry into match play via a late playoff for final spots on Tuesday, fought back to cut the deficit to 2 down. Peckels won the 7th, 12th, and 13th holes to trim Moore's lead. Moore then made birdie three on the 14th to gain some breathing room. Peckels made birdie 4 on the 16th to force play to the 17th, but Peckels missed a long birdie putt and conceded Moore's birdie to close the match 3 & 1.

Moore will attempt to join Wake Forest players Cutis Strange and Billy Andrade on the list of North and South Champions. Posey will attempt to win the final match that was just out of his reach in last year's final.

Sunday's 36-hole final match will begin at 7:30 a.m. The contestants will break for lunch after the morning round with the afternoon round beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m.
