DURHAM, N.C. - Junior Preston Yates followed up his career-low 69 with a final round 73 on Tuesday to finish tied for 20th at the Duke Individual Collegiate presented by Coca-Cola at the Washington Duke Golf Club.

Yates carded an even-par 36 on his opening nine thanks to a birdie and a bogie but slipped to 4-over for the round after two bogies and a double on holes 13-15. He then regrouped and birdied his final two holes to post a 2-over 73.

After struggling to an 83 in the first round on Monday, Yates posted three birdies and just one bogie on his way to a career-low 69 Monday afternoon. The only other player in the field that cared a sub-70 round was North Carolina's Phillip Chauncey, who went on to claim medalist honors after a 69 in the final round.

Fellow junior Marc Gladson also got off to a slow start, posting a 9-over 80 in the first round. But he rebounded nicely with rounds of 73 and 75 to finish tied for 27th in the 63-player field.

Sophomore Justin Bryant, playing in his second tournament of the season, was plagued by the big numbers over the two days. He went on to post rounds of 81-77-81 to finish tied for 52nd.

Chauncey started the final round tied for sixth at 3-over par, but after his 69 on Tuesday, he claimed a three-shot victory. Vanderbilt's John Ebert carded a pair of 70s in the first two rounds to lead by two shots heading into the final round but an 80 on Tuesday dropped him to a tie for 6th.

The Demon Deacons will wrap up the fall portion of the schedule in less than two weeks at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges on Oct. 24-26.
