Round 1 & 2 Results in PDF Format MACON, Ga. - The Wake Forest men's golf team carded a second straight round of 297 to sit in 10th place after two rounds of the Brickyard Collegiate Championship at The Brickyard at Riverside. Wake struggled on the front nine for the second straight day, but even par back nines from junior Brendan Gielow and freshman Lee Bedford held the round together for the Deacs. WFU will start the final round just four shots behind Tennessee-Chattanooga in ninth place and seven shots back of Florida State in seventh. After an up-and-down round yesterday, Gielow played much steadier today, carding two birdies, two bogies and 14 pars for an even-par round of 70. He started the day in a tie for 25th but moved up 21 spots to a tie for 4th after 36 holes. Gielow is just four shots behind individual leader Nick Archambault of Penn St. at even par. Following a 78 in the first round, Bedford carded four birdies in the second round but a triple bogie on nine hurt his momentum. He went on to card 40 on the front nine but came home in 35 for a round of 75 and will start the final round tied for 58th. Freshman Daniel Meggs, who was coming off a season-low round of 70 on Saturday, found some trouble midway through his second round. He made five pars start the round but bogies on holes 6, 8 and 9 gave him an opening nine of 3-over 38. Meggs started the back nine with a bogie and a pair of double bogies to fall to 8-over par but he bounced back with four pars and birdies on the par-4 15th and the par-5 18th to finish with a round of 76. He will start the final round in a tie for 21st. For the second straight day, senior Dustin Groves carded just one birdie in his round of 6-over 76. His two round total of 153 has him tied with Bedford in 58th with 18 holes to play. Junior Travis Wadkins joins Bedford and Groves with a 36-holoe total of 153 after his second round 77. After a 38 on the front nine, Wadkins started the back nine with two bogies and a triple through the first three holes. He then steadied himself with five straight pars before a birdie on 18 brought him home in 39. Host Georgia Tech had an eight shot lead after the first round but a 15-over 295 on Sunday has let Virginia Tech and Georgia back into the mix. The Bulldogs carded a 285 in the second round and the Hokies posted a 286. All three teams are tied at 17-over 577 heading into the final round. Clemson will start just two shots back at 19-over. The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. Live scoring of the final round can be found at www.golfstat.com.
