Final Round Results in PDF Format 
The No. 14 Wake Forest men's golf team was unable to win its third consecutive Hootie at Bulls Bay title as the Deacs carded a seven-over 291 to finish tied for 12th in Awendaw, S.C.
Webb Simpson entered the final round tied for second place but double-bogeys on holes seven and 12 kept the senior from being in contention for individual honors. Simpson ended the three-day event with a one-under 212, his third-lowest total of the season.
Chris McCartin shot his best round of the tournament an even 71 to rise 13 places from the second round and land in a tie for 37th. The senior finished the Hootie with a seven-over 220, which ties his second-lowest output on the year. McCartin's final round was a team-best on the day.
Brendan Gielow fell 14 spots into a tie for 51st place after posting a five-over 76. The sophomore has finished in the top 15 five times out of eight events on the season. Gielow shot a 10-over 223 for the tournament.
Sophomore Travis Wadkins moved up five spots after carding a one-over 72, his best round of the tournament, to finish tied for 63rd. Wadkins finished the tournament with a 13-over 226.
Dustin Groves shot a four-over 75 Tuesday to finish in 73rd place. The junior recorded a three-day total of 231 (+18).
All Deacon participants ended the Hootie in lower positions than one year ago. Simpson finished tied for second in 2007. Groves and Gielow tied for 13th, and McCartin tied for 36th for last year's championship finish for Wake.
NC State claimed the team title after posting a 13-under 271 and finished the tournament with a 14-under 838 to win the event by 12 strokes. Clemson was runner-up with a two-under 850.
The Wolfpack's Matt Hill garnered individual honors after firing a five-under 66 in Tuesday's final round. Hill was nine-under (204) for the tournament.
The Deacs will return to action April 11-13 at the NC State Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C.
