Yesterday during the scrimage the defense definitely did better then the offense. I think this is typical of most teams though. Offense is all about timing and defense is more just reacting to the ball, so it takes the offense a little longer to get into the flow. Anthony Young played very well at wide receiver. He blocked his man and made several acrobatic catches. Also Ovie Mughelli played well. Normally what stands out about Ovie is his blocking skills, but yesterday he had two touchdowns. One of the touchdowns was about seventy yards where he outran the whole defense. The defense played well, especially the defensive line. I think we have three of the top defensive lineman in the conference in Calvin Pace, Montique Sharpe, and Rod Stephen. The second string defensive lineman (Jerome Nichols, Goryal Scales, Jason Finklea) also seem to have improved a lot since the spring.

Today practice in the morning went well. I sweated so much this morning my shoes were wet. It was very humid. Gasers are starting to get easier now, so I think that pretty soon Coach Grobe will start making us run four gasers instead of three. I feel like I'm in football shape now. The afternoon practice was cut short because of lightning. I'm sure the coaches were upset we couldn't get all of the practice in, and I think we needed the practice too. Guys on the team were excited just to have a change in the schedule.
