Wake Does it Again - Upsets Northwestern
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Brian Kuklick completed 23-of-33 passes with a pair of
touchdowns and Desmond Clark had nine receptions for 127 yards
and a score as Wake Forest held on for a 27-20 upset of
24th-ranked Northwestern.
Wake Forest (1-0) defeated the Wildcats for the second straight
season, its only victories over ranked opponents since 1979.
Last year, the Demon Deacons came from behind with 15
fourth-quarter points for a 28-27 upset over then number 13
Northwestern.
Kuklick's 12-yard touchdown pass to Jamie Deese 4:33 into the
second half put Wake Forest ahead for good, 13-10. After
Northwestern went out on downs, Kuklick connected with Clark on
a 37-yard scoring strike for a 20-10 advantage.
Morgan Kane capped a 14-play, 69-yard drive with a one-yard
touchdown run 1:55 into the fourth quarter, extending Wake
Forest's lead to 27-13.
Tim Hughes was 14-of-31 for 201 yards and two touchdowns for
Northwestern (1-1). Brian Musso caught five passes for 64 yards
and two scores.
