Clemson Routs Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Nealon Greene threw two touchdown passes and David Richardson booted a career-high four field goals as Clemson continued its mastery over Wake Forest with a 33-16 victory in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.

Clemson (5-3, 3-3 ACC) improved its all-time record against Wake Forest to 49-13-1, including wins in 19 of the last 21 meetings.

Greene threw his 29th and 30th career touchdown passes to become the school's all-time leader, surpassing Mike Eppley's 28. He completed 18-of-25 for 286 yards and also had 10 carries for 51 yards.

Wake Forest (4-5, 3-4) saw its modest two-game winning streak snapped as the Demon Deacons suffered their fourth straight loss to Clemson.

Clemson took an 18-10 lead early in the third quarter when Greene threw a 52-yard scoring strike to Tony Horne, who caught seven passes for 152 yards. Seven minutes later, Greene connected with Rod Gardner on a 41-yard touchdown pass.

Richardson added field goals from 30 and 35 yards in the fourth quarter. The Tigers also recorded a safety early in the final period when punter Tripp Moore was unable to handle Joe Zelenka's snap and fell on the ball in the end zone.

Brian Kuklick completed just 9-of-14 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown before leaving in the second quarter with a bruised right knee. Ben Sankey, who relieved Kuklick, was 13-of-22 for 148 yards and ran up the middle for a 16-yard touchdown late in the game.

Clemson opened the scoring over five minutes into the game when Raymond Priester ran in from two yards. The Demon Deacons answered back almost six minutes later when Kuklick connected with Thabiti Davis on a five-yard touchdown pass. The Tigers regained the lead late in the quarter when Richardson booted a career-high 52-yard field goal.

Matthew Burdick kicked a 38-yard field goal early in the second quarter to give Wake Forest a 10-9 lead, but Clemson took the lead again 10 minutes later when Richardson kicked his second field goal of the game from 34 yards.
